Kandy
Kandy is a large city in central Sri Lanka. It's set on a hill surrounded by mountains, which are home to tea plantations and various biodiverse rainforests. The city's heart is scenic Kandy Lake popular for walking. It's famous for its sacred Buddhist sites, mainly the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) shrine, which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha and for the great Kandy Esala Perahera, one of the oldest and grandest of all Buddhist festivals in Sri Lanka, featuring dancers, jugglers, musicians, fire-breathers, and lavishly decorated elephants and lasts for ten days but Kandy offered enough attractions to justify a visit at any time of year.
